4 Thermarests in the pile. Most often used 3/4 length car or canoe camping with a CCF pad underneath.
I have a Big Agnus insulated mummy pad that I bought for backpacking before I became a hanger. It's been very durable. I've used it in my Hennessey too. Occaisionally me feet slip of the narrow foot end and my calf will get a little cold. But you wake up a bit and shift your legs over again. Not a big deal. I since bought an under quilt but on colder nights below 45 or so, I'll add the pad in the hammock too as I tend to sleep cold. The key to using a pad in the hammock is to uder inflate it so it conforms to the curves better. But you still must inflate it as the deflated pad has little insulative value.
