    Don't forget the really long tree straps.

    I'm doing a week above 10,000 feet at the end of July in Kings Canyon. No hammock zone.

    The trick to hiking the high Sierra with a hammock is to plan it out so you are below 9,000 feet each night. And take pads instead of UQs in case you are caught where the trees are so springy they'll bend right over and bounce you on granite.

    My itinerary will be three days of trees, five days of none. But it will be beautiful and epic....

    I always subscribe to the hike high sleep low method. Ugh! Going to the ground doesn't sound fun at all but I always carry a torso length mat just in case. Can't wait to see your pics Lori.
