I've used Sawyers spray from REI and also two kinds of farm/home Permethrin solution (which I had to dilute) on my HH for three years now with no problems.

I did have some slight odor from one brand of farm solution, but switched to a home-use Permethrin and it is pretty much odorless.

I treat my hammock and gear and clothing two or three times a year (no longer spray, now I soak for two hours per military instructions).

On my last hike, two of my hike partners had at least half a dozen ticks crawl on them at a lunch stop. I had none.

    Cuban

Has anyone used a Permethrin solution on Cuban fiber yet? Would it even stick?

Excellent question! I would assume(and we all know what that gets you), that it would dry as a film on the laminate as long as you let it dry while the cuben was laying on a flat surface and not hanging down so the permethrin would run off before having a chance to try. Now, I doubt that it would have the longevity of other more porous fabrics. Just my assumptions...

Where con we find these instructions? Or can you post them on this thread? For those of us that might want to soak instead of spray.

What the guy at Sawyer said:

"Cuben Fiber is a high tech laminated material. They top layer is polyester which permetherin will bond to. However, the inner layers it will not bond to. So you can not treat it the same as other fabrics. It will (depending on the size of the material) probably take a few "wettings" to get all 3 ounces of permetherin onto the fabric. You will have to spray the object, let it dry, spray again, let it dry, and spray again"
