First Try on a Hex Cat Cut - Done.

First off I'd like to say thanks to all the folks here for all kinds of info and encouragement to try this yourself. I'm really pleased with how this turned out and can't wait to take it out for my first hang. This is pretty much straight up from the instructions on the DIY Gear site. I had a bit of a brain fart when trying to get the stated ridgeline from 7 yards of fabric, but Scott set me straight and it was smooth sailing from there. (A few hours, but smooth sailing.)

I do want to ask this question: does anybody else find the sound of a needle going through sil sexy or have I gone too far down the rabbit hole?

Looks good, any idea of the weight?

Just asking because I'm considering a DIY tarp myself.

I'm going to try and get the stuff sack put together tonight and get a good total weight on the whole thing. I was at 15.01 ounces prior to removing the extra material for the cat cuts, but then I added in the d-rings. I can't wait to see what it comes out to be.

Looks fantastic. I'm looking to jump into the DIY rabbit hole. I guess I'm having a noobie brain fart too, but how do you get that ridgeline length to work out?

I was thinking I had to cut both pieces (left and right side) at the same time by having the fabric folded over. I think this is called, "cutting on the fold". Scott told me that I had to cut side 1 then "flip" the pattern over and cut side 2. Because of the cat cuts there's more than enough material for the 132" ridgeline if you flip the pattern. I know I'm not describing this well, so I scribbled a drawing. I'm embarrassed to say I had to think about it for a minute before it hit me.
