The more I think about it, the less I like the idea of the Weaverton Parking Lot. ( I know its only another 5 miles from that lot to Gathland via the AT), but I was looking forward to hiking up to Weaverton Cliffs from Harpers Ferry just for that great view, stopping to visit the Garvey Shelter and actually hiking ALL THE WAY to Gathland.

I still.want to hike all the way. Im just not sure if we can leave our cars at Gathland for a week. Havent looled into that yet is all.
I'm certain our shuttle/trail angel has the ideas for the logistics of parking.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.
OK....I think I have worked out my days off, so if my last couple of people to cover my shifts come through I will be joining ya'll for the northbound hike to Gathland!

i too, can be the Gathland parking lot by 9:00 monday 10/15. i will probably drive down sometime sunday. MML and TT are going to be so sick of me... hehe. i have had the very good fortune to hike with them quite a bit this year, maybe 4 and 6 times respectively. hope to see 2Tall and enyaprj as well

Ok it looks like we have our start point and time together.....just have to confirm it with our shuttle.
What about trail head. There is a couple options ...pending mileage we wanna look at.
*there is the US522 outside of Front Royal across from.the Lake kinda..
*VA638
*VA55
They would change the first/second days mileage some but later in the week is set by the shelters if thats your fancy or Im happy stealthn it anywhere.
This would give us and other maybe joining along an Idea as well.
What chall think??
