Driftwood hang

Hi All,

Been cruising this site for a bit now, just wanted to firstly say how helpful you guys (&gals) have been making decisions on what to buy & how to make what you need. (got warbonnet blackbird with superfly) made some whoopie slings, softshackles & prussics - a start.

I have a question however that I couldn't find the answer by searching the forums. Has anyone ever brought their hammock to a beach you know there will be no tree's but a lot of driftwood. I presently find myself in this situation and was wondering if you guys can think of a hammockstand I could make using driftwood and amsteel? or anything else I should take?
My initial thoughts are to dig down into the sand ~ 4ft bury a standing pole into it then tie it down with deadman anchors to bigger pieces of drift wood. Has anyone done this before?

problem i have with drift wood is that many piece have fault lines in it that you don't find till weight is put on it, but it would look really cool.

Just so you know there are plenty of places to hang on the Gulf islands and folks in the coast kayaking community hang in allot of places around Van. Is. They do use driftwood as well, posting into the ground and tying guy lines off to the ground.

I would say bipod tied to a log. Best option IMHO.
