Ok folks, we still have some time before the big weekend but I'm currently on injured reserve. My back is fubar to the point that standing up in the morning takes a minute or two. Obviously that would rule out being a sherpa
Walking/hiking is probably going to be ok (and probably good for what ails me) but carrying a pack and hanging around out in the woods, even in a camp chair, are probably out. If I make a miraculous recovery then I'll definitely be there for the entire thing but at this point I'm not hopeful. The worst case scenario is that I'll hike out with the group on Friday and visit for as long as I can and then head home. If my daughter and her friends still want to go on Saturday then I'll hike in with them (depending on how I feel the day after doing some hiking) and help them get set up.
The other bad news that I have is that I asked about campfires yesterday and they are also banned. We can, however, have cooking fires *wink wink*. Bring the charcoal for DO cooking and even bring the firewood for any cooking fires that you may need but remember that all of the cooking fires (including DO cooking) need to be inside the fire ring
I will let you know how my recovery goes and hopefully I'll be ready to roll (I just had a mental image of olddog pushing me to the campsite in his sherpa stroller ) by the time this trip comes up. I think I should be able to come out for at least some of the visiting for the weekend.

Wow, sorry to hear about your IR status! Hope you heal quick!

Sorry about your injury, Dave. Unfortunately, I'm familiar with back problems. I've found movement good for it, but not lifting! Don't worry about being a sherpa. We just hope you can make it out there.

Sorry to hear that, Dave. I hope you can make it out for a visit.
Bummer! I feel your pain from here!!
But, these things are strange and you may luck out by Friday.
Go with the flow.
