    Hi there from Cornwall, UK

    Hi all

I found this forum whilst searching for ideas for making my own hammock.

I started looking into hammocks for camping after a very wet camping weekend in Wales last weekend. I was in a very small tent that pitched inner first so everything got wet, the ground was on a slope and there were thousands of slugs everywhere. Some of the other campers had tarps to give themselves some additional shelter but they still had to deal with the slope and the slugs.
When I got back I started looking into tarps and discovered DD tarps and hammocks here in the UK and a light suddenly lit above my head. Why haddent I thought of this before.

I wanted to find out more about hammock camping so I bought the book 'Ultimate Hang by Derek Hansen' and now I am hooked.

In my search for more info I found myself here.

I have never spent a night in a hammock, I have never even seen one close up so you are going to have to bear with me while I climb the learning curve to elevated perspectives.

Welcome from Canada. Just a heads up. On Bushcraft UK (BCUK), there are allot of hangers with info on hanging sites in the UK and also gear available on your side of the pond .

    Cheers

Welcome to HF! You'll find some very helpful folks and articles here, more hammocking info than you'll know what to do with.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys

I am a member of bushcraft uk although I do not spend a lot of time on there as I am more of a prepper than a bushcrafter but I will drop in and see if I can find some hangers in my neck of the woods.

You have a really fantastic forum here. I could easily loose a few hours of my life lost in the pages of this site.

    Thanks again

Yes, I am also a member of Natural Bushcraft. I need to try and go on there more often to be honest.
