There are many tarps out there that are just amazing but for the price, you can't beat the hh hex.
Still one of my favorite tarps.

My son and I use them, I on my explorer deluxe and he on his expedition asym. Works like a charm on both. If I was an ultralight backpacker I would look for something lighter but for what we do and how we use them we could not be happier. A couple hiking poles or branches and we have a great porch to sit under if it rains or to cook under.

I have recently tried the HH Typhoon (70d polyester) with my DD Hammock and it was perfect. Looking forward to using the doors to cut the wind as gets cooler. It packs down a little smaller than my HHBPUL. The silnylon would be nice , but like you, I am working within a budget. Having said that, for the extra $10 I would go with the typhoon because of the doors/blast panels. Cheers!

Should do you fine- remember that Hennessy's (used to?) come with a teeny diamond fly! SGT Rock kept plenty dry in near monsoonal rain (or some sort of incredible weather event) - you just have to batten down well, and you can't keep anything outside the hammock.

Small tarp requires more know how. The trend is just for mega tarps (almost tents with hammocks in them) for various reasons, but you should be fine with the Hex.

    HH Asym Hex Fly

I've got 1 Silnylon (mine) and 2 70D Polyester (my strong young sons) HH hex rain flys and they both are well made and great at keeping you and your stuff dry. Last fall we sat out 3 days w/ 7" rain and we all stayed warm and dry. We had to stay an extra day just to let the creeks go down so we could get out. Caney Creek Wilderness Area, Arkansas.

I have the HH hex fly and can tell you it is great at keeping you dry. I have had it out in near monsoon conditions and stayed dry, actually me and one of my friends who has one were the only dry people out of a group of about a 100 at that event.

It will serve you well if you get one.

Just got my HH Hex in the mail yesterday. It is huge! Tons of room under there. Seems very well built and durable as well. Can't wait to try it out this weekend.
