How is the tree situation for hanging?

Isn't camping restricted to designated areas for the Davy Crockett Forest (4C Trail) as well? Do we have a map of those sites or are they all closed too?

    This from http://www.stateparks.com/davy_crock..._in_texas.html
Dispersed camping is permitted in most parts of the National Forest year round, but is restricted to 25 designated hunter camps during the fall deer season to provide a safer hunting experience. A map of these camps is available at the ranger district office in early September.

Actually, here is the map of hunter's camps:

    http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_...rdb5208745.pdf

Davy Crockett National Forest closed areas include:
-- Longleaf hunter camp off Forest Service Road (FSR) 568
-- Piney hunter camp off FSR 571
-- South Possum Walk hunter camp off FSR 586
-- Pennington hunter camp off FSR 557
-- County Line hunter camp off FSR 516
-- White Rock hunter camp off FSR 514/514D
-- Ratcliff Lake hunter camp off State Highway 7
-- Pine Springs hunter camp off FSR 524A
-- Centerville hunter camp off FSR 539
-- Neches Bluff #2 hunter camp off FSR 511F

Looks like #s 16, 17, and 19 are open on the 4C trail.

Looks like #s 16, 17, and 19 are open on the 4C trail.
Looking at that, it seems that we could camp at Neches Bluff (#17) Friday night, hike in about 8 or 10 miles, then retrace our steps back to Merkel Bluff (#16) or Pond Camp (#19) to camp Saturday night, and hike back out Sunday morning. Gets us our long hike non-car camping jones taken care of.

Roughly scaling that map, its 12 +/- miles to the Ratcliff so making the turn around point somewhere south of FS511 would fit the bill.
