    Ridgerunner Hammock Video

I got my WBRR a day early and so yesterday I went out and did a very quick video of my initial thoughts. It's not the best video ever, but when I was looking at this hammock there were a few other videos people did, but they didn't go over some of the things I would have liked to see. So I made my own video to help others who might be considering this hammock. BTW I'm a bigger guy so this video briefly talks about that.

Appreciate the review. Now all I need to see how an inflatable air mattress works in a single layer and I'll be ready to pull the trigger. I'd rather buy a single layer to keep the weight down and my gut feeling is that an air mattress or pad would stay put nicely in a bridge style hammock, eliminating the need of a double layer.

Very well done. Hits point after point. Especially useful that you could and do apply expectations from your experience with another --your own -- DIY bridge.

Congrats, too, to the young grip and his focus. You would not have handed a 4 year old a video camera ten years ago!!

That was a great video review, it answered many of the questions I had. If I did one it would have been very similar, except my camera man would have been a seven or nine year old. Enjoy 4! It's a great age. Do more video reviews, we seem to think alike.

Interesting video but even cooler kiddo! I think you have a mini-Shug! Most definitely include him in any more of your videos!

Great video! Like you said, looks like you have abundant room for the spreader bars even without the pull outs. I have also noticed on the intro WBRR thread that people seem to have plenty of tarp room.

What sized tarps are these? I use an 11X10 rectangular JRB tarp with my JRB bridges. I never have this much room ( without pull outs ) in any kind of storm pitch, I have to have a high and wide A frame type pitch. Closing the ends ( with no pull outs) results in a lot of bar contact, especially if the wind is hitting the tarp broadside. Or closing the ends with that wide of a pitch is impossible anyway. And the BMBH spreader bars are only 32"!

So I have been amazed to see so much room for the bars, which is why I'm asking about the size of the tarps. Of course, the other factor is how high and wide the tarps are pitched. That should not be a problem as far as the ends go if you can still mostly close the ends. But sometimes rain/wind hitting broadside calls for the tarp to be pitched low enough for the sides to be close to the ground, or wind and even rain can steal a lot of heat and/or wet your UQ. Once I had my JRB bridge pitched under the JRB tarp. There was no storm pitch, just a moderately wide "A" pitch. And I was not in the hammock, so it was not as low/close to the ground as it might have been. A big storm came through, and when I checked shortly after my UQ was pretty wet on one end, maybe 1/4-1/3 of one end was wet. I had the feeling it was partly from splash up, partly from rain blown in on one end.

Any way, enjoyed the video and the young camera man whose arms were getting tired!
