Welcome aboard from Florida. Read this thread and keep in mind that if your first hang is perfect you will be one of the lucky few. Enjoy the fun!http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=59088
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

THIS. I sleep like a rock in my hammock. Sometimes, I take a power nap of 10-15 mins and I pass out quickly and wake up refreshed. I think someone else already said it, but lots of times I wake up in the exact same position that I fell asleep in 8 hours earlier.

I believe that Coffeedrinker is on to something there. My wife and I spent 45 nights in the woods (on several different camping trips) this summer hanging in our hammocks. The last camping trip was down around 32 degrees at night and it only takes one night to realize it is time to hit the hammock right at dark because the temperature is falling like a rock and it is dark out there. Not much else to do but sleep. Well, sleep we did. We put in 12 hours of it every night for 5 nights It was great. It made us feel so refreshed that we hiked hard each day following. It was one great trip. We both can not wait to go on another cold camping trip so we can sleep that hard again. Yes, I believe Coffeedrinker has something there. We definitely sleep better in a hammock.

I've called it the "hanging coma" too...apologies to the makers of that '70s movie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coma_(1...ilm_poster.jpg

I've been a full time hanger for about four years now. I sleep soundly, often waking in the same position I went to sleep in. I get up rested and limber, no aches and pains. If I have to sleep in a bed(like on a trip) I sleep poorly, toss and turn with hip pain, and get up stiff, sore, and cranky. Love my WBBB for summer outside, and my new Dutch Argon for the rest of the year inside!

I would like to try out one of those bracelets that measure your sleep. Been thinking about getting one. Can't believe no one else has one to report on.
