Sorry guys but I wont be able to make this one. Think of me as I am hard at work. Hard at work packing for a weeklong hang in Oconee. Leaving Oct 1 for a week in the mountains. But we will definitely have to plan some more before march. Maybe in November or January. so we can teach Junebug about UQs and such. Again it was great meet all y'all, had a great time. And Gladius???? Try not to repeatedly injure yourself this time.

Great pics Junebug thanks for taking them and being a good sport. Hope your hammock DTs get better.

OK, just talked with Lake Greenwood. The group area is available Oct 4-8 (asked about Thurs-Monday, just in case anyone wanted to come early or stay later). We may use the showers in the regular campground, just have to drive over to them. There is no water at the camp site...I'm sure we could round up some 5 gallon water jugs.
The group rate is (per night + tax):
    up to 10 people - $13.50
    11-15 people - $18.50
    16-20 people - $23.50
    21-25 people - $28.50
    26-30 people - $33.50
Basically, if we did $5 per person for the weekend, we should be fine and have some left.
To make the reservation, I would need a general idea of how many would be coming.
    So, input about this??

I'm up for the 1st weekend in Oct. That falls on my regularly scheduled weekend off...unfortunately I have no vacation time left this year.

As far as where we hang, I don't have a big preference...though I was thinking upstate would be nice. Maybe if we don't hang upstate this time, we can later this fall....maybe catch the leaves changing colors.

Hmm...am I correct that Sumter National Forest is not actually in Sumter???...it appears it's near where I-385 meets I-26? That, in my mind, is pretty close to being upstate as well and fairly central.

That's correct, Sumter NF is just outside of Greenwood, near the junction of I385 and I26. Hot showers on site and $14/night covers up to 30 people.

Once there's a date set in stone, I'll see what I can do about taking the weekend off and I'm definitely in for this.

Having never been to one of these (since...you know...I just joined today), I suspect I just bring whatever gear I'd bring to any ol' camping trip (hammock, tarp, cooking utensils, chair, etc) and whatever the cost for the site is?

Now that I know where Sumter NF is, I vote for that...seems central enough, the price is right, AND HOT SHOWERS on site!

If we do $5 per person (maybe less), there should be money left over to buy some firewood, etc....regardless of where we hang.

Gresh: Welcome to the forum! The gear you listed is pretty much what we bring...sounds like about all anyone would need!
