    Hello - from Western Mass

Just discovered the wonderfulness of hammock camping. Just got a Grand Trunk and learning to work with it. So far, I really like it. Just got to work on the UQ, etc.

Tried a sleeping bag "pea pod on the outside of the hammock. Warm...but constrictive. Any ideas?

    Welcome to HF

You have several master hangers in w. Mass. Get to a group hang when you can.
Lot's of us have successfully used sleeping bags as 'pods', just need the right sleeping bag and usually that is one wide enough and one with a separate zipper in the footbox to allow the hammock suspension to exit.
If you love pods, and many of us do, then look to:
    http://stores.tttrailgear.com/StoreFront.bok
You'll find a couple models of pods there-all primo and certain to keep you
    warm even in NE
I carried one last weekend, a non longer 40F rated model, and woke up at 38F just barely comfortable and this was inside a hammock sock. The 40F model was sewn through construction-you'll find the new PeaPods are fully baffled and super warm.
A true pod and a sleeping bag as pod eliminates a lot of fiddle that you find with underquilts and topquilts-though the manufactures of UQs and TQs have eliminated a lot of fiddle over the years.
    Good luck!
