Mid-week mid/lower SC hang

Just spoke with a lady at Dreher Island. She said the primitive area is for youth groups only. She said we could stay in the regular tent area and that there are pictures of each site online so we could see which ones have plenty of trees. It seems to me as I have spoken with several state parks, that each have their own interpretation and policies regarding the primitive areas and using the bathrooms/showers. Hopefully, as hammock camping grows and groups such as ours leave good impressions, more doors will be opened to us in the future.

As far as using bathrooms/showers, I don't suspect they've got a hall monitor at the door looking to see your pass indicating that you have a "proper" spot. I wouldn't be at all opposed to using them if I were in the primitive area.

Thoughts? Immoral?

All may not be lost on using the primitive areas. Working on a better contact. We ran into some shower issues at the Fall Sprawl (not with the official park people...they were very accommodating)...so it would be best if we get that cleared either before or after we arrive. Thanks, Ahhgladius for going out there. That will help us decide.

Cool....that's my preference b/c I'll be working the week before & after...but I will get off Tuesday Oct. 30th at 8am, and can head to whichever campground we end up choosing. No preference to which campground...

I wish I could contribute to the head count, but since it's mid-week it really depends on my schedule and what's going on in class. I may be able to bounce out of class for a day and spend a night hanging, but that's about it.
