Take Syb up on his offer. That's what is great about this community, you get a veteran hangers offering their services to newbies so everyone enjoys this sport. Good on ya Syb for offering. I was thinking it's a big move to help on Thanksgiving weekend, but it's only Thanksgiving weekend in Canada!!

Listen to all the folks on hear and you will find that nice comfy sweet spot.

Mullinax, I will bring one of my HH's this weekend to the Parson's Mountain hang, and you can check it out and see what sweet comfiness you are missing. Don't judge something you have never tried, it causes you to miss out on a lot of nice things in life.

I still can't seem to find a position thats comfy, although I have come close. I would take up Syb, but I have to visit some family this weekend. (thanks for the offer though!)

Anytime. I have family in Burlington so I'm there often enough. Keep on experimenting - hang your tree straps higher or lower, tighten or ease up the ridgeline, play with the amount of sag... all this takes time (at least it did for me) and I find my dialed in setup has a longer-than-normal ridgeline. I have less sag in my hammock but it works. For me. Take some pics of your setup as I think we can offer more direct advice/suggestions.

I have been called many things but "veteran" unfortunately, isn't one of them. I enjoy hanging quite a bit but still love to learn. I always feel like a newbie. Hopefully, I'll always feel this way

Personally, I keep the ridge line pretty taut (if not tight). With this and keeping my feet about 6 inches higher I get a pretty consistent hang.

    Bad lie not so bad....

Truthfully I'm not sure I hit the "sweet spot" more than about 10% of the time. However, even a "bad lie" in the hammock is way more comfortable than anything on the ground. I've never awoke in the hammock to any kind of soreness (that wasn't brought about by a heavy pack or long miles). Regardless of how much of a cushy pad put down under me I always crawl out of my tent sore and poorly rested.

I find I don't sleep as deep in the hammock. I tend to move around quite a bit and get up more to answer the "call of nature" (maybe from a cool back and kidneys). I still wake up ready to go in the morning rather than having to drag myself out of bed.

Just to keep the "to each his own hang" mantra going strong, I'm just the opposite of jameyt, in that I find comfort when my stock HH expedition ridgeline is pretty loose when laying in the hammock. Honestly, I thought that hammock camping might not be for me as well until I really started experimenting with setting the hammock up in different ways. Then I stumbled upon comfort

I actually spent half a night in it, and got a semi-comfy position. I would've spent a whole night but the cold got to me because I can't get my PLUQ in sync with this diagonal lay. I've concluded that its just not for me, or just too small as I am just under the height limit. Thanks for all of the info guys!
