    Single Layer 1.9 Hammock

Up for sale is a DIY single layer 1.9oz (from Joann Fabrics) pseudo Knotty Stretch-side Mod hammock. This is 11' long and has the stretch mod on one side. The ends are gathered WBBB style. Everything weighs in at around 17 ounces and that's without the carabiners.

    Here's what you get:
The hammock - 11' X 60" (hemmed on all sides)
Two, 6-foot green 7/64" amsteel whoopie slings
Two 10-foot polyester tree straps with one loop sewn in to each end
    2 toggles

Here's what you don't get that you see in the pictures:
    The trees
    The carabiners

You just need to supply some carabiners or Dutch Clips and maybe a ridgeline if that's your thing and you'll be hanging in no time. $55 shipped to the lower 48, paypal please.

I am in the market for a 2nd hammock (for my son) but I worry about having 11 feet of length; it would take a really large tarp to keep this dry--no?

Not necessarily. If you install a ridgeline the hammock will not be at it's full 11' length. Most people start of with about 87% (or is it 83%? Brain cramp right now) of the total hammock length which is where they find a comfortable lay, give or take a few inches. In essence, you're looking at a tarp with a ridgeline length of around 9.5 feet. Here's the math: 11' X 12" = 132". Take 87% of 132 which gives you 114.84". Divide that by 12" = 9.57 feet.

I have a MacCat Standard tarp (125" ridgeline) and I hang it over my 11' DIY hammocks with no issue.

I hope that information is clear.

83 percent is the number you're looking for. This means a 9 foot ridgeline (+/- an inch or two) is perfect.

Almost any square or rectangular tarp turned on a diagonal would work. The formula for diagonal length of a square or rectangle is the square root of (Length Squared+Width Squared).

For instance an 8x10 tarp turned on a diagonal would be square root of ((8x8)+(10x10)) or square root of 164 = just under 13 feet which would be plenty of coverage. Likewise, a 9x9 would work ... square root of 81+81=162 = 12 feet and change.

And I'll testify to the comfort of an 11 foot hammock. It's divine.

It's not procrastinating, its proactively delaying the implementation of the energy-intensive phase of the project until the enthusiasm factor is at its maximum effectiveness.
