    Tips for sewing noseeum??

    New DIYer here...

I am attempting a Fronkey bugnet and am having issues sewing the noseeum together.

My girlfriend is doing the sewing (new to sewing) and is having trouble. We tried putting tissue paper between the netting and it was spotty. We then tried painter's tape, and it worked, but the adhesive messed it up after 5 inches or so...

Anyone have any tips to get it to do right?

A description of what the "trouble" is would be helpful.

Sorry about that...forgive my wording because I don't know sewing terminology, but the stitch doesn't seem to go through. There is a stitch on the top, but not the bottom. I can just pull the thread out after she's sewed over it.

    Does that help?

She has already sewed a topquilt for me and didn't have any problems, so I know it has to be something different with this fabric...just not sure what it is.

Sounds like the bobbin isn't feeding.

Kinda sounds like it's not picking up the bobbin thread. Did this once myself on a quilt, stitched a whole row with an empty bobbin. If the bobbin is full, possibly the bobbin carrier isn't seated fully. No seeum and thulle are both a pain to sew but this seems to be more of a thread injector problem.

I agree with the other fells here that it sounds like a bobbin issue.

As a side note I've never had trouble sewing noseeum or any other netting. I hold it taught as the dogs feed the material through. No bunching or other issues that many seem to have with such materials.

Now silnylon, that's a whole different beast to work with and I've yet to tame it.

The bobbin may be put in backwards, the upper thread not threaded correctly or the needle may be turned the wrong way. Check all of these carefully against the users manual.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll be sure to check all of those things. I knew it would probably be something simple.

Try folding it a couple of times so that it has a few layers to go into.
