Welcome to our passion. Many options here for you to look at. Suggest you start with some of the videos by Shug. You wil get a good idea of types of hammock gear that is available. Also, check the vendor websites. Many have videos showing how to use their gear.

Welcome from another fellow scout leader. One thing I found very useful here is the self standing hammock stands. Several scouters here use yhem for outings such as camporees where you are out in an open field. Do a search for turtlelady bamboo stand and turtle dog stand. My webelo and I are loving it.

    Hey GI.
I have that same set up. You may not need the space blanket. But give it a go both ways and see what you think. All depends how cold your planning to go. Military sleep system should keep you pretty toasty. Greetings from a fellow Scout Leader.

Welcome to the forums from Indiana. I started out with a military sleep system - pad between sleeping bag and hammock - you in sleeping bag. You can also put the pad inside the bag, which will keep it from moving around.

    Welcome to HF, GI Joe!
I am an ASM with Troop 303 in Carneys Point, NJ.
I too wanted to get off the ground, and now all but 4 of our scouts are in hammocks, all of the leaders have converted to hammocks!
I don't have any experience with HH, I started with an ENO DN.
Now I have a DIY Double Layer.
You'll find this site very useful, I know I have!

Hey GI Joe! Welcome to the addiction! I'm also a Scoutmaster for Troop 508 in Lilburn, GA and have been off the ground for a couple years now. Our scouts are slowly converting to hanging and it's great to see more and more scouts get into hammocks and off the ground. I don't have any experience with a HH, but there sure is plenty of info on this site to help you. Good luck and welcome!
