Which should have lower temp rating?

If your TQ and UQ don't have the same temperature ratings, which do you think should be lower?

Under. You can always add more on top / keep your clothes on, etc. Underneath you its difficult to add more because laying on top of it compresses it.

+2...it's easy to keep warm on top...not so much on the bottom.

Def agree, UQ all day long. Plus UQ's are smaller and require less down, so they are generally cheaper per temp rating.

Under quilt for sure... remember heat rises and your underside is more exposed to the elements unless you have a BIG tarp

you can always vent the UQ If need be
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
