    Calling all Hangin' Yakers!

Hey all! I'm pretty new to hammocks and this forum. I have a touring kayak that I have done a few overnighters with and will hopefully be doing a lot more. I just wondered how many kayakers there are on the Hammock Forums. I wanted to here some of your trips you've done with your hammock and Yak.

There's a whole subforum about this in the off-topic forums.

You must be a Donating Member to access it. It's the "Paddling Forum". Pony up $10....it's well worth it. There are also other forums in the Members section....I read them all the time.

BTW...there are plenty of paddlers on this site. I paddle both white and flat water. Most of my paddle/camping trips take place in the Adirondacks in NY.

Did my first proper camp in the DD Traveler hammock last weekend.
Took the kayak to a nice cove a few k's away from civilisation after a day out in the ocean with the whales.

Worked well and its nice laying in the gently swaying hammock when you have developed "sea legs" from bobbing around on the ocean all day, solid ground feels like it is moving so the sway of the hammock feels very good.

Camped solo but no boogiemen got me. We dont have bears or wolves just spiders and snakes and dropbears.

The trees were a bit close and the tarp set low for incoming wind. But worked out ok.

Well disgused in the bushes, except for the flouro orange kayak on the beach.

Nice to wake up meters from the beach with a mum and baby whale splashing around 100m offshore.

Baby Humpback whales in the day surfaced to say hi and see what sort of weird creatures we were.

Aww Mate , No Way! That's one hell of a first trip with your hammock. I think I have dreams of kayaking with whales in crystal clear waters. It did look a bit challenging to find Trees to hang from. That dose seem to be the one downside to Hammock camping. Fortunately I live in an area with lots of Trees. I think I'll be happy to have the chance if running into Bears or Wolves over lots of poisonous little creatures you may not see and step on! Great pictures! Thanks for sharing!
