Hi I'm a 54 yo guy who has been hiking for over 25 yrs.
I'm new to Hammocks and am doing my research now, in anticipation of making a purchase......I Live in Fredericksburg Va. I know everyone has their favorite Hammock. It would be helpful to actually Lay in a few different ones before I make a decision, If anyone is close to me I would appreciate it if I could see your setup

Sorry I don't live anywhere near, but you are right is would be wise to try before you buy. When you get a tent you are pretty much done, that is shelterwise there is nothing else to buy but, as you may know, when you get a hammock you only have part of what you need. Depending on the hammock maker, you may need mosquito netting, a tarp, and a suspension setup, not to mention some kind of insulation under you. Make sure to figure all of this stuff into the equation.

I don't hike much, motorcycle touring is my joy. I've gone through a few hammocks, but have switched to full time indoor or out hammock sleeping since I got my DangerBird72 last July from PapaSmurf here. It is a bit heavy for hiking but lighter material is available. It is wide and long giving a generous "sweet spot", and it is bi-symmetrical, making side sleeping a very comfortable pleasure. Also, the ridgeline is so high you can sit up in it. No claustrophobic sensations for me in this one, even with the weather cover overhead.
You might try a few before finding your Dream Hammock (sneaky plug for the DB72), but its a fun journey getting there!
Hello everyone, I'm a 58 year old waiting to receive my hammock on Wednesday.
I Live on North Shore in Massachusetts and I am looking for places that I can goto get aclamated with my new toy. If anyone is in or near my area, give me a shout please. I am really looking forward to this new adventure. I am a tenter from way back and have done my fair share of hiking, so I'm not totally new to the
hike in woods camping thing.

None of us are old Deacon, just older than others in here. LOL
Here, Here. Not old yet at 63. Love my WBBB. Never felt that way with tents. Glad I moved up to hammocks. Only problem is getting dressed in cold mornings. Welcome change from the feeling of "old stiff bones" from sleeping on ground pads.
I can't wait for that change myself. I'm really excited and waiting for my hammock.
