    Raiffnuke's BBO-clone

Just a shout out to Raiffnuke for making me an overcover for my Blackbird and a Jerry Chair. We did a gear trade and I want everyone to know how much I like his stuff. Craftsmanship first rate.

Picture of overcover attached! Used it at Fall MAHHA. (Thanks for pic, Soundman!) I’ve used the overcover for about 10 nights now from temps as low as 34 degrees to 50 degrees, from dry to buckets of rain conditions. No condensation inside yet! The workmanship is excellent and I’m very happy with it. Seems I have a tendency lately to camp in colder temps than warmer and I’m keeping it on my hammock as part of my regular setup. (Of course, it will be nice to be able to completely remove it when I don’t need it.) It’s made out 1.1. breathable ripstop and weighs 4 oz.

    Thanks Raiffnuke!

There's a big circle of elastic cord in the outside seams which holds it close to the hammock. This elastic comes out of the seams at each end and slip over the hammock end knots. The Blackbird wings slip through some pockets that open by velco. The pockets also help keep the OC in place.

    Very nice work Raiff,

Happy Camper does the black bird have to be staked out in order for the OC to be effective. I generally do not stake out my BB and was wondering if an OC would still work? Enjoy the new warmth from within the BB

No it doesn't. In fact, in this picture it's not staked out. You can see the cord hanging down above my shoes.

Yes, it makes a nice microclimate inside the hammock!
