As a newbie, I was taught to have the UQ just kiss the bottom of the hammock. Took two years of fiddling before someone pulled it up much tighter for me and it worked. I now believe too tight is better than too loose. Start tight and slowly loosen it to find the best tension.

Air might have gotten in your under quilt. I am a fine with tightness. Having CBS sucks

I took my 0F Incubator down to 12F. At the beginning I had some fresh spots near to the neck, so I started adjusting. Then I felt a little fresh at the butt.

Finally I stretched out to look for the HG label and realized that head/foot was mixed up. I just turned around in the hammock and slept well and cosy until 6am.

As advised, I tied the quilt very close and tight to the hammock.

Nearly all the UQs produced these days are differentially cut. Meaning that you want them quite snug up underneath you and you don't have to worry about losing the loft of the quilts. Unlike non-dif cut UQs, those you have to be carefull not to pull too tight as you will lose loft with them then.

I second the Reflectives ! I don't leave home without a piece ! You wont want to carry an extra sleeping bag that's too much stuff ! Also a Hot Hand packet in your back pocket works on really brutal nights !
