    Gizzbeaks or OMW

So I have a tadpole already and was thinking about getting a set of grizzbeaks for both sides and just using that as my winter tarp. Or should I just make life a little easier and get an old man winter? Comments, pros, cons.....please comments on this are more than welcome to help me make up my mind.

i have a larger hex tarp than the tadpole and DIY grizz beaks. If you can spring for the OMW. I would recommend that. You need to figure on 3-4 extra stakes for each grizz beaks over your hex tarp. I carry one in summer and use two in winter. IMHO, they work great to stop blowing rain when I need them too in summer and work OK to extend my tarp into winter. They don't seal well enough in winter. I would imagine a dedicated winter tarp would be superior in the winter roll.

I would reccomend the OMW. Have a Winter Dream 12 myself. I love it. They both seal up tight when needed, I.e. very windy and/or blowing rain. And hold heat in fairly well in winter. Basically they give you more options, as the doors can either be tied up out of the way or used to extend the porch mode. And any combo thereof. Used mine that way 2 weeks ago. One end tight together and staked down against the ground. The other end had one door angled out and the other tied up to my hiking pole as a mini-porch. Looked wierd but worked well.
Leave me alone, I'm only talking to my dog today.

I may be outnumbered, but never outmanned.

I don't know about the OMW (haven't had the pleasure of seeing one up close), but I would keep leaning that way. Beaks are nice in a jam, but I would rather have the doors sewn on if I could. It is just an easier system to deal with and requires less hardware. I started out with a hex and beaks, but traded them away after a few months and picked up a tarp with doors.
