Would you try sleeping with this at 33 degrees?

    Hi all,

Trying to decide on whether I want to sleep in my hammock or not...

My doublenest just came in a few minutes ago. I don't have a UQ yet, but I do have an Astro Nemo, a 40 degree bag, a Nalgene I can put boiling water into, and lots of layers. Its supposed to get down to 33. Would you try it, or just stick to the ground until I can get an IX UQ sewn together?

If no pads or UQ, you may be a far braver man than I!

The only way you will know is to get out in the backyard where you can bail easy if things dn't work out.

Good point. I won't have time to do that, but I will have a tent as a backup. We will be getting to camp fairly early in the day... I may set it up and try it. If it doesn't work at all, I'll just setup in the tent instead.

Ha! Thanks for the video, Shug. That was really helpful. My boss is wondering what I'm watching, though... haha!

That sounds like a safe and fun plan! As long as you can safely bail, any experiment is worth a shot!

In addition to the pads, lots of not very compressible synthetic clothing layers, and/or being inside a synthetic bag, can buy you a lot of warmth.

Should work with those pads on the bottom.

I would use a fleece jacket around my shoulders if I had cold spots and an over cover if I could manage one. It does not need to do more than slow down air movement.
