Thanks again, for the replies, guys. I am a fairly warm sleeper. However, one of the three of us has backed out, so I may just stay in the tent. We'll see!

I've been sleeping out in the yard with a thermometer that records lowest temp. Trying to see what my rig's limit is. 30's so far and all is well.

With pads, clothes, and a bag you will be fine. The pad will prevent heat loss to the bottom( that's why people use them in tents, it ain't for comfort) and your sleeping bag will work fine as long as its rated for that temp.

If you can get your hands on some reflectix that might help. It is light, flexible and good for the cold spots. Makes an okay sit pad as well.

So Brandon, how did your trip work out? Did you stay in the hammock or join the ground dwellers?

It worked out great! Thank you for asking. I ended up deciding not to change my sleeping plans last minute as it was supposed to get down to about 28. So I joined the ground dwellers, but actually slept great! The Nemo Astro Insulated pads are fantastic!

However, I did set the hammock up and my buddy is hooked... next trip, we'll both be in hammocks. He loved it and so did I. The first pic is a view from the hammock. The second one is of our campsite. That would be me in the hammock, enjoying some hot chocolate and the surroundings.

Looks like a good time! Just think, next time you won't even need to find a flat spot to camp. ..

If your car camping bring a big old blanket, you can throw it over the ridge line and clothes pin one end and the bottom closed

By the way Orangepeel, HammockGear is having a sale for the next 24 hrs, you can get an outstanding UQ for 20% off. I think Arrowhead, JacksRBetter, & some of the other vendors are too!
