    Slightly different set up

I'm guessing this has already been thought of but I can't seem to find any evidence of it. I'm thinking of getting my hands on a new suspension system. I used to use a webbing set up then switched to whoopies. For some reason I can't stop thinging about some new dutch bling

So here's my idea, I'd love some feedback.
Ok so I understand that the dutch buckles are ment to be used with whoopies. Well... Wouldn't they work just as well if I attached them directly to the continuous loops I have run through the channel ends of my hammock? So the continuous loop would hook over the dutch buckle in place of the whoopie and all adjustments would take place by adjusting the webbing that is threaded through the dutch buckle. In theory this seems like it would work just fine but I've never had my hands on a set of dutch buckles.

In my opinion it wouldn't be ideal. The buckles adjust for the size of the tree but not to fine tune the hammock set up they are easy ro adjust but whoopies win. In addition there is a great weight penalty for all the instead of amsteel.

Kind of what I was thinking. Would work but not as well as whoopies and certainly not as light with more bulk. To each their own though. It would make storing the webbing easier with how buckles are set up for storage though. Might be worth it if one really wanted to use webbing.

I'm not to concerned about weight as this would be my secondary suspension. I would be using a dutch clip to attach and anchor webbing to tree so that would be stationary. Then I'd just be left with threading several more feet or less feet through the buckle, then attaching continuous loops. Does that explain it better. I'm trying to drawl a better picture because Im not grasping why this wouldnt work.

Essentially I would be replacing cinch buckles for dutch buckles. The perk is that with a dutch buckle the hardware is not permanently attached as the cinch buckles kinda sorta are.

So you'll be using the dutch buckles sort of like tri-glides...?

Yup that exactly right and the continuous loop used in the hammock channel would slide right over them instead of the whoopies.

I guess the question now is, would it work as well as a tri glide or cinch buckle? Would this just be a temporary solution until the proper hardware was obtained ?
