I have visited every capitol in canada for a geocaching challenge, and while I havent hammocked in all of them, I learned that in some cities in the western provinces and territories, hammocking is the preferred way of sleeping. No laws banning camping whatsoever. I don't blame them: trees are everywhere!

Cool idea, here in Berlin is the next Park or better Forrest not far (30minutes). It is forbidden to camping. But with the right Hammock..... No Problemas. 😄

I've often considered this one, even scouted a few places. Just haven't taken the time. I like the google earth ideas that people have posted. Great way to find a few home town stealth spots!

I just moved, so I have no idea what's around me yet. YET. I enjoyed the PD dare. I don't think I could have done it.

    Cool Google Earth Rocks!

You are right about Google Earth being THE tool to find new stealth hang'n spots, everywhere. It's even better than doing a slow fly over, in a small plane. You can zoom down until you are right over the spot you want and "read" the terrain so there are very few surprises when you get there in the flesh. lb

Chicago area has some pretty large sections of forest preserves. Did a hang in Palos FP for a night. I hike all over the area and have seen many other places that would be great. Just a little concerned about the law, but really no one would find you at night unless you had a big fire. Prefer to do things legal, but not much around here.

Toronto has plenty of green space. High Park and the Rouge have plenty of places but the city is filled with ravine parks. I haven't done it yet but it would be easy enough (but illegal).

I've had in the back of my mind to have a urban group hang. Don't know how easy permits would be but it could be interesting.
