I just returned from an overnight on the Fiery Gizzard on that side of the park. My college roommate and I hiked from one end to the other spending the night at Ravens Point. He is sold on hammock camping now. Stayed warm and dry with pretty good rain. Is hoping he can make the trip in March.

I really want to do fiery gizzard soon with my wife. Is that near stone door at all? I would like to see stone door with her.

And also, if anyone would like to teach me some rope work I will bring along some dyneema and amsteel. Maybe I could learn to splice and make whoopies around camp by night if anyone is an interested teacher. Be nice to learn something new while we're there. My knot-knowledge is lacking as well so I could stand to learn a lot from you guys.

Be sure to bring some floral wire or CAT 5 cable with you if you want to splice and I'd be happy to show you. I'm sure there is a myriad of knot lessons on the Internet these days, but an invaluable tool is an older copy of the Boy Scout Handbook or Fieldbook. Easy steps to teach an 11 year old, so some adults should be able to follow! ;-)

The Gizzard is up near Monteagle, the Stone Door on the other side. The gizzard is only a little over an hour from Nashville to the trailhead. We did the 14 I. An overnight and the rangers hooked us up with a local that shuttled us back to our car for $10 a head.

Also there is a younger ranger that really wants to come to camp and check out everyone's rig in March. He knew about Amsteel and the like, but hadn't seen it in action. Probably the forum! I told him we'd give them a full itinerary closer to the hang! Making friends for our big group!

We could use a concierge in the backcountry.

Yeah, I'm waiting on a firm date to be established too. I think we know the week but not the exact days? Who's running this one? I thought it was Ewker? FTroop? Maybe travel agent Roche.

Ewker said he could only do Easter weekend. I'm willing to organize and think 7-10 March appears to be the most voted on. I'm prepared to finalize if you all want me to do so!

I'm waiting on a final date as well. It looks as if I will be able to attend and look forward to learning from and meeting you all.
