    Hanging a hammock inside

I'm thinking of taking the spare bedroom and hanging a hammock in there. I don't want a stand and don't want to use eyebolts into a single stud. I was thinking of something like this that would be attached in the corners of the room at the proper height and would fasten to at least 4 studs. I'd make it out of aluminum with welded flange supports and an attachment loop for the biner. Any holes in the concept?

Looks plenty strong enough and spreads the load.

Thank you very much. I'll get a prototype made and see how it works.

So this would be a corner shelf attatched at four points with a hanging loop coming off the rear underside? If you could come up with something like that i'm sure lots of folks would like them. Being able to set up in a spare room and have some functional shelves would be cool. Your hammock could even stow away under one.

Neat idea! It seems like the hammock would have to diagonally bisect a room. Any ideas on what you could do if the other end of the hammock doesn't go to another corner, say to the middle of a wall or into the middle of the room?

So you think a single eyebolt would be insufficient? Because I can attest to it's strength. More than plenty. Some do hang from 2mm cord...

I'm not in that predicament so I haven't thought about it. I'll eat some more leftover Thanksgiving goodies and maybe something will come to mind!

Yes, that's what I had in mind..I could unhook one end and hang it at the other so the furniture in the room is accessible.
