Great website, Shug. I had been looking into replacing the stock Aluminum poles with Carbon Fiber ones. Have you liked your RR so far? Taken it on a trip yet?

As far as I have talked with those folks they only work with tent pole sized poles...pencil type diameter. Though it seams like MedicineMan had some Carbon fiber poles made for a bridge....or perhaps it was just his hiking poles...made up a year or two..or three ago.

Some thread searching to be done for sure.

Well, my set up isn't getting any lighter, I just ordered the cloud burst tarp. Took advantage of it while it was still on sale. New hammock and tarp on the way!

Yeah, the RR is about the same weight as the Birds when you remove the spreader bars. Not that the Blackbirds are exactly lightweight backpacking hammocks. They are easily bearable to backpack with, but if you're really worried about weight then neither of these hammocks are likely to even make the wish list. I've hiked with my RR a couple of times now and don't have any complaints about the weight. I would take a more appropriate hammock on a long distance hike, but for a 30 mile weekend it's just dandy.
you can put a dowel in there to keep it from collapsing (only need to do this at head end, foot should be ok without a dowel) the rei shocklight hiker uses a 12.5" dowel

If they can do something, let us know... I might be interested if the price is right.

Same here. Darn Black Friday sales!

I used a WBBB with Edge tarp, light, but could never get 100% comfortable with it. So I got a BMBH. That feels much more comfortable, but a bit of squeeze at the shoulders and a feeling of being down in a ditch. I'm hoping the RR will solve the problems.

Willing to go heavier for comfort.
