Just prepare what you can and enjoy the rest.
I think the regionally-acceptable response here is, "Aw, shucks."

Thanks for the praise, Floridahanger, but you get out there, too! I saw you out in the freaking cold weather this last January...

Also, the prepare and enjoy quote? Absolutely correct. Mind if I steal that for my sig?

+1 And I'll add that I actually enjoy hiking in the rain. A wet day makes the colors so vibrant! I also find wet hikes somehow more introspective. Maybe it's the lack of grand views that helps me focus on the little things.

To top it all off is the simple satisfaction of staying comfortable in adverse conditions.

"We're Troop 61 (Saugus, MA). We don't cancel or postpone trips because of inclement weather."

A policy that has caused my current unit (Pack 250 Waltham) much chagrin.

Only if it's snowing so hard that we can't drive - that's the only time I ever recall calling something off. (We had guys at the '91 Jamboree that was hit by Hurricane Bob, so we've even camped in that.)

For me, the only thing I think I would cancel my trip over would probably be extreme heat. But only because I mostly do hiking and hiking in extreme heat can be dangerous.

Heavy rains or winds is fine with me.

Thank you as well and yes, you can. It's not stealing if you have permission.

The only thing I would add is tornado outbreak I suppose. I would love to chase them and hurricanes but not have them chase me. But again, just prepare...
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
