Tarp upgrade- Edge or Big Mama?

I recently got a BB from with the Diamond asym tarp from the used marketplace. I am thinking of upgrading to something a little bigger. The asym tarp (not carried any longer by WB) is a little too minimalist for me. It "just fits" the BB. It is incredibly small and light, but I find myself fiddling with it too much. Not planning on winter camping and I live in GA so I don't need too much. Thinking about the edge or the Mamajamba. I'm thinking since the MJ is only $15 and 3.5 oz more...why not have the extra room. However, is the MJ "too much" tarp for a 3 season 40* and above camper? Thanks for the input!

I now tote Cuben but I really miss my MJ. The edge will do the trick but the MJ really lets you enjoy what your doing IMO.

ps. Whats the specs on that asym?

+1 on the MJ, especially as you described your needs. If 3.5 oz isn't much in your situation and if you're newer, you'll benefit from the bit of extra coverage. At the least, it gives you more options to pull it a bit lower if you're ever in a blowing rain storm.

If you are not worried about weight I think its better to have the extra coverage fo those rainy days.

Just to confuse you a little more........... Have you looked at the tadpole?
Gives you a little more ridgeline rain coverage, but still remains small....

I always appreciate the extra coverage - MJ gets my vote.

To be honest I don't really know the specs. I found some previous posts that list the size as 132"x100" and it is sil. The stuff sack is the size of a 12 oz can, and it fits in there with room to spare. I would guess the weight is under 10 oz as it is less tarp than the edge.

+1 to that. I also have the superfly, which is like a massive palace to hang in, same as the MJ just with built in doors. extra space is nice is the bad weather...

Thanks Mountain goat...the WL tadpole is another interesting choice. It is in between the edge and the MJ. Price is also pretty good especially when you factor in shipping...the tadpole would be the same price as the edge shipped if I don't go with any options...hmmmmmmmm.

I would for the MJ. It's worth it. The extra coverage is great.
