1990 Superfly snap on doors - my 2012 mod

Ok, so the 1990 year is a joke for those that don't know. I love my WB stuff so much that when I read a member was selling his hammock and tarp I bought it without really looking at the tarp. When I got it, it turned out to be one of Brandon's first run superfly with detachable doors via snaps. It was the one with snaps that started about 4" from the ridgeline and one big door and one little door. When pitched it left a HUGE hole up top by the ridgeline. Also, I love to bounce a penny off my tarp and the doors kept giving a the top or bottom snap. So I fixed it.

Let me re-say that I have Brandon's Superfly with doors and can not be any more happy with my tarp. This older model...... we Brandon and I have giggled about this one by email.

Ok, so I decided that I would try my hand at sewing on my own doors as I have seen done by some others. I think they turned out quite nice. Oh, and while I was at it I decided that I want my doors to tie off at my corner stakes so I came up with doors, tie outs that work together.

Sewn on doors with my prussik tension tie-out/door ties. Here is how it works. I have a loop on one end of my tie out line, a prussik to my corner tie out on the tarp. Once I get my tarp tight I can then put my tie out line through my door ring and tie off my door(s). This means I only have to drive 4 stakes for my tarp, two for my hammock (WBBB) and get rid of the other 4 that I was tying out for my doors.

    What ya think?

TW - Good idea. Simple and it works well. Reduces number of stakes AND number of guy lines.

i bought my superfly in '08. don't even think removable doors were an option.

Thanks for this. I just re-rigged the tie outs to work this way. 2 stakes out of the bag!

    Nice work on the doors.

This tieout configuration has me interested.

I'm going to have to play around with this...

    Beautiful job TW!

Question: In the close up pic it shows your stitching running right along the edge of the grosgrain and also the sil. How do you do that? Mine never looks that professional.
