i have a fleece scarf that i sometimes do a "mummy" head and neck wrap with.
i have done it with a knit hat on underneath and with the knit hat on the outside.
i find that with the hat on the outside works best for me.
a balaclava will probably work too?

If I can hide in this outfit in the snow either I'm impressive or you're all blind!

The ninjaclava seems to have solved the problem! I think it may have to become a permanent cold weather gear item.

I have short hair and it doesn't matter what I do, I have bad hair after sleeping in the hammock. I just plan on wearing a baseball hat or something the next day.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

Wish I had a suggestion, but the last time my hair was past my shoulders all Sheryl Crow wanted to do was have some fun (mid 90s for the musically challenged). When I cut it all off, they rebelled and just fell out.

Hard to beat a balaclava for most anything cold related. Buffs are a wonderful and an almost as effective alternative that offer a few other configurations.

    Balaclava. For sure

I have very long hair and in a bed I throw it up over my pillow out of the way but that's not possible in a hammock. So I braid it in a loose braid leaving it loose at the neck and then wear my Mad Bomber hat if it's really cold and a buff when it's not. I tried a Balaclava and it works too but I felt constricted, probably because I'm an asthmatic though.
