If you use the right way i.e (not tying knots) then it t should be fine that negates any of the cases I have heard.

webbing no I have never heard of proper webbing breaking.

I don't mean slipping or poor setups but total failure of the material.
I know both are very strong and amsteel is much stronger than it looks
but with thousands of hangers using them I have not seen a post about
    either one just snapping apart.
I've had webbing break. Let's just say that with one person in a hammock, webbing shouldn't break.

I have worn out straps. They start to tear at the fold of the loop. It was worse with the spectra that HH uses. It is such a slow process that one should easily have time to replace them.

I've had flat tape give out once.
It was brand new and being used with an amsteel loop and double D stainless buckles.

It snapped half way between the hammock end and the tree. Luckily it was flat grassy ground and I was sitting side on, pre-stretching the rig.
Unluckily it was in front of 20 or so slightly inebriated 'bushcrafters' who laughed about it most of the weekend

I dont think the tape quality was anywhere near the type you get from Dutch. Been using those with buckles and whoopies for
a year or so, no pre-stretch and sleep like a baby.

Heating UHDPE cord, eg Amsteel is a certain way of weakening it and a primary debilitator in the field due to its low melting point. Strength does not recover after it cools.

On the frequency with which tree straps are acknowledged to have frayed or broken.

Either truckers and riggers are constantly replacing the straps they use to secure loads under massively more stress, or we ought to consider the risks of using undersized straps which may abrade too easily, too.
