Guesstimate on how low I can go

Dream Hammocks Dangerbird, 0* Incubator, Jacks R Better torso pad, UQP & 20* Burrow. I could slip my 30* Jarbridge in there too.

I know it depends on the person and clothing but I'm just curious on opinions.

    Thanks!

I would venture conservatively maybe -10º. Playing it safe. -15º on a good still night.

Right before hell freezes over would be my guess... Add a sock and you could go as low as north America has to offer...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Wouldn't a sock do the same thing as the overcover on the Dangerbird and the UQP?

Layers are layers in my book... I am not the end all know it all of anything... But with air space provided between, two socks would outperform one in my limited knowledge...

Ditto, and maybe -20 ( on bottom ) depending on how thick and how many poorly compressing layers ( like fleece) you are wearing. And depending on if you are wearing VB clothing ( opinions vary widely on that one, but that alone has added ~ 20* for several folks ). And of course, depending greatly on you and how much you need, could be only +10-20F!

Usually heavy wool socks, expedition weight polypro top & bottom, fleece wristies (maybe) and something on my head. Still trying to nail down headwear that's warm, comfy and I already own as cash flow is limited right now.

Head insulation is ultra-important and those kinds of temps. Some folks forget that when they go from a 20F mummy bag to a 20F TQ, they are losing the uber important hood and neck collar. Which is a lot of thick ( 2 or 3") insulation around your head and neck. If you are going to compete with the bag, you need to make up for that loss, not to mention block all drafts as well as a sleeping bag does.

I do have a balaclava and a neck gaiter along with a wool Mountaingoat gear hat. No down headwear yet. Hopefully down the road.
