Glad you're feeling better. Did you get that new grandbaby of yours into her hammock yet? That would be the best cap on this trip report. Be safe.

I'm glad to hear you are doing better Chaaz. You are a tough old dog but you are still human.

===> Thanks! I will be fine, eventually, and if not, I am going to live every second until they throw dirt on me, and I might not stand for that, either!

Grandbaby will get the hammock in about a week or so when I get to see her again. She is up in Maine, near Portland. I WILL get pics! Thanks again!

====> Thanks John! Yeah, we are just complex biological systems at best, subject to those things that biological systems are subject to. RIght now, the electrical system overlay of my heart muscle is shorting-out from the diabetic damage. Soooo now, as well as listing to Port, I may also have fun episodes of spontaneous weakness and other fun stuff!

I am just thankful I had a lot of the Goat Sauce left over to jump-start my heart when necessary.

NEHHA Trip Report, PART I, sorta

Well, as I drift back up to full consciousness, I guess I had better start in on a NEHHA trip report, with a few pics if possible.

I was going to give jofish a ride out to the hang, but he had family issues to deal with, so I drove out alone, albeit being followed by a coworker, Matt, who was doing his first hang ever. Unfortunately, he came with inadequate footwear, and so had to leave after one night (correct thing to do!) so as to retain his feet/toes. He WILL be making more hangs n the future, after investing in some more gear.

He had a Warbonnet and CCF Pad, so I lent him a 3-season Phoenix, and 2QZQ undercover. He also brought a 0* sleeping bag for a TQ. We decided to make "SuperShelters" for a trial run, but had the wrong type of materials to work with; American Medical THIN Mylar heat sheets (WAY to flimsy!) Need to find my regular survival tarps with reflective surfaces, but, well, they were in the Truck. Also used very, very thin plastic for the other side, rather than the 5 mil stuff I usually use. We also screwed-up using large binder clips, which did a very poor job of holding everything together on the Zing-it ridge line, which made for a shelter that made of straw, ala the Three Little Pigs. And the Big Bad Wolf howled that night, 20 mph pretty steady, and blew these two houses down!

Woke-up with NOTHING over me in the morning, although I stayed roasty-toasty with my new Hammock Gear 0* TQ with 2 oz overstuff!!! What a great piece of gear! (Notice the self-feeding fire in the foreground ...that was a BEAR to get started! All the wood was frozen solid, and took forever to get lit...thankfully R3l@x had some very cool fire starting bricks with him! It burned straight down in the center, and left what you see in the picture. Odd. Really needed a 'long fire' lay. I used an AHE New River UQ, and a new 2QZQ UQP as well. Was adequate, but waiting on the new HG Incubator!

The next night brought "Mood Snow", as Nitehauk called it. I was under a Hennessey Hex Tarp by then after the shelter failure. I had brought along a Warbonnet SuperFly, but it was - you guessed it! In the truck! STILL haven't located that! The Hennessy Hex collected WAY too much condensation underneath (not breathable), and if I banged the tarp in the night, it 'rained' on me! D'Oh! The snow on the tarp created a perfect environmental convergence for the condensation, too.

To be continued, when sober I need to rearrange the pics to match the narrative.......there is much, much, more!

Glad to hear you are back on the mends. I am hoping we can do some trails and maybe another fishing lesson.

Glad to see you are on the mend and posting here again Skypainter. I am still wishing I made the trip, even for one night. However, all the parts i am accumulating to make things for hangin are still parts for want of the enthusiasm I need to inject it all together

My GP doc has me going to all these specialists, since my left arm suddenly became almost useless and my breathing is weak. Now control is under a Neurologist.

Seems I am using only one lung now and get out of breath easily. That should mean that hammocking is right up my alley now Resting is good!

I have enough Silnylon to make about a 12' by 15' tarp with doors on each end, and I do have DIY underquilt and down top quilt. I think I could have been warm enough but was concerned that another arm or leg would drop out while I was there. I am not allowed to drive anymore, at least until they finish diagnosing what I got, and they think they may have it nailed down by the end of this month, but who really knows.
Hopefully I can make the next hang in the spring and finally get to meet all you great folks.

Do you guys have "Pinterest" accounts? If you dont know what it is , you make folders of pictures of stuff you like and then your friends can look at it. I think it would be cool if we made folders with our Gear. Im trying to remember all the stuff you guys had at the hang. With this we could look at it or even click on the link where to get it.

I created one a while back but never did anything with it. I love this idea though. I don't have a lot of gear to display but i would participate for sure!
