If money was no object... One of everything from each of the vendors... But since that's not going to happen...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Luckily, I learned long ago that it's cheaper in the long run to get the right stuff, that you want, right up front. That, and the ability to sell some things here on the site to fund other purchases, has provided me with a near perfect setup (only thing I still need to fund is a cuben fiber tarp).

I'm also always experimenting and tweaking in small ways, but the following is what works for me.

    Summer Setup (typically backpacking)
    Hammock: Darien UL, 11 foot
Tarp: HG Cuben Fiber 4 Season Tarp, modded for side pull-outs to be at the RR spreader bars
    TQ: 20* extra wide Burrow
    UQ: 20* Incubator
Stove: Ti-tri Caldera Cone w/ 12-10 stove. Swap out for Soto Micro-regulator canister stove when alcohol stoves aren't an option.
Cook kit: .9 liter Titanium Evernew pot and long-handled titanium spoon (I typically go with freezer-bag cooking)

Winter Setup (when I can use a pulk or car to get my gear around)
    Hammock: RidgeRunner
Tarp: HG Cuben Fiber Winter Tarp
    TQ: 0* Burrow
    UQ: Winter Full-length Lynx
    Stove: Primus Omni-fuel Ti
Cook kit: Set of MSR Pots/Pans

I second that. After falling prey to the bug I caught, I have developed quite a want list that grows daily.

I started with a ENO DN and Slap Strap Pros, no Tarp, a REI pad and a North Face Cats Meow. If starting over I'd get a ENO DN and Slap Strap Pros, no Tarp, a REI pad and a North Face Cats Meow. I've had too much fun with every little "Tweak" to start with anything else.

I think I can honestly say that I would get most of what I have now, I'd just buy it new instead of used, which is how I got most of it. Changes from what I have now are in bold

    Summer Setup
    Hammock: HHDJ
Tarp: Stock when no Coastal TX rain is forecast, HH Hex with doors when it is.
    TQ: Silk sleeping bag liner
    UQ: None

    Winter Setup
    Hammock: HH Expedition w/o net
    Tarp: HH Hex with doors
TQ: Down in the 30* range
UQ: Down in the 30* range
    Stove: Cheapo Chinese Pocket Rocket
    Cook kit: My own DIY

Although not sure about weights and all the latest info I would PROBABLY (at the moment) go for something like this:

    Summer Setup
Hammock: BIAS Weight Weenie Micro (+ buginator)
Tarp: HG (or Zpacks) custom Asym tarp (as per a fellow HF member, sorry forgot whom, is somewhere in my YT list... too lazy to look now)
    TQ: HG 40 F Burrow
UQ: HG 40 F Phoenix OR MM Baby Orca
    Stove: DIY 'caldera clone'
Cook kit: Titanium Snowpeak 600 (with lid)

    Winter Setup
    Hammock: BIAS Weight Weenie Micro
    Tarp: HG Winter Palace
    TQ: HG 20 F Burrow (+ optional 40F)
UQ: HG 20 F Incubator (+ optional summer quilt; see above)
Stove: Never change a winning team (or Primus Omnifuel and....this is a mean one ....)
Cook kit: Never change a winning team (see line above this )

Now all good and well, and tomorrow my options might change. Pulk, what kind of winter, group size, length of trip, type of cooking bladibladibla.....

But with this selection I save storage space, the agony of thinking what stuff to take, stay modular

O boy, a man can dream can he... because once I type this, there are other reactions that got me thinking... mmm why not that quilt or tarp or ...

Thanks for opening up a can of worms in my head/savings account

    Grtz Johan
