    No hardware suspension?

Hello. Just wondering if it would be possible to use some kind of climbing rope, (or amsteel) have that attached to your hammock with a larks head, then tie a stopper knot (figure eight or diamond) then tie a marlin spike hitch in your webbing and slide the rope in before tightening. That way it would be hardware free. I was wondering if this would be a good idea or just suicide.
Thanks for the input in advance,
    LazyCamper.

Thanks, I've seen it and it's really amazing. But I'm looking to see if I can do it without so much rope.

Do you have any pictures of this setup? IOW, have you tried it yet? I'm sure someone here, has tried it, and those with more experience will be able to answer your question.

I would like to see if it could work out, as a good backup is always handy to have on a long hike.

I've just tried it for a quick lay in the hammock. (A few minutes.) May try it tonight. I have the eno singlenest and I tried it with the knot that's used to connect the caribiner to the hammock and it seemed to work well. Will report more in the morning.

Depending on your gathered end, you could wrap a tree with huggers and run the working end through the loop on the gathered end of your hammock and treat it like a truckers hitch.

Another quick question. Would amsteel hold a diamond or figure eight knot? Once again, thanks in advance.
