    Innovation: Dynamic Spreader Bars

    This may have been posted earlier, but yesterday was the first I've seen it. If it's old news, I apologize.

    So they have "invented" what is in essence a spreader bar that adjusts- much like what has already been done with hiking poles with forum members here?

    Wasnt there some sort of patent story relating to the Henneseys years ago that made it very hard for the cottage guys to take a great idea to the next level? Anybody have a link to that?

    I didn't read the entire patent description - but could it be that they are just patenting the spreader bars that they are already using? Seems to me that they already provide dynamic tensioning...

    It looks like a spreader bar that would include some kind of "automatic" tensioning based on the person in the hammock. Maybe he thought of having some kind of strut or air chamber that adjusts the spread based on the user or a user control?
