    This is the way I did it as well but hated the fact my skins would be soaked in the morning with rain or due. Even after toweling off the tarp I would still be putting it in wet snake skins. That's the main reason I switched to the small ties.
    Actually I use some of my daughters hair ties/bands.

    Nice but instead of a snake skin you use something else (bungeed loops)..... But as the saying goes... hyoh ....
