I'm reading it now, and I love the fact that she started her journal when she started planning, a year before her hike. At first I wanted to get to the "real" hike, but I'm glad I didn't skip ahead. Now that we're in Virginia, I appreciate her wisdom all the more by seeing its relation to her reasons for setting out in the first place. If I ever hike the AT, I hope I would have the sense to approach it the way she did.
Regarding the PCT - journals:
Chop/Beardoh!, nobo 2012 - started on the ground, but went back to his hammock at Belden (PCT mile ~1289)...
Luke Sierrawalker, sobo 2012 - hammock the whole way except a couple of nights...
Also see HF threads re. PCT:
Chop, start at #10 after he finished & see his other following comments...
guySmiley, start at #17 to see his 'after' hike comments (ignore much of the off-topic posts & replies!)...
And an old pct-l post by Roni from Israel...
Happy trails!!!

I'm following a friend (Buckeye Cornelius) on the AT this year, currently he's ground dwelling but about 3 days before he left, I converted him so he got online and purchased all his hammock items and had them shipped to me. I've spent the last couple of days making up all his tarp rigging, whoopies, etc. and putting it all together. I'll ship out to him Monday morning and he'll make his conversion while on the trail.
Here's his trailjournal entry where he talks about making the change over on trail:

He did it up right, a HG cuben tarp and UQ, WB XLC, Dutchgear rigging supplies. I'll do a
final setup this afternoon before I pack it all up for shipping and snap a pic or two and post.

P.S. Any words of encouragement you might offer on his guest book would be well received.
