    Right side of DWR ?

I finally got hold of a thread injector and am trying to learn how to use it. I have a piece of coated nylon and am going to make a square bottom stuff sack to try and make a synthetic mummy bag fit better in the ULA Circuit I bought for my wife. I have my pattern figured out but I'm not sure if I should put the coated side of the nylon "inside" or "outside". Any recommendations ? What is considered the "right" side of DWR ? Thanks, This forum is the BEST..!!!

coated side: inside. Is it actually a waterproof coating or just dwr?

Almost forgot, here is a tutorial I made on square btm stuff sacks with a built in "handle" in the bottom to make it easier to remove stuffed items.

dwr would be present on both sides

the right/wrong side is whatever you want, often the non-shiny side is used as the right side

I'm not really sure about the DWR. It was given to me with the loan of the machine to practice on. Probably coated. One side has the little squares that you can see. The other side is darker and smooth, almost like a thin kinda rubbery feeling coating. I know it will be heavier but I thought I would try to make something useful. That sleeping bag won't fit sideways in the Circuit in the stuff sack that came with it and creates a lump that makes the pack fit poorly. Just trying to get by while we save up for downy goodness !!

Well I got my stuff sack completed. It turned out real nice, except for the fact the sleeping bag won't fit in it. Haha. I made a miscalculation when I laid my pattern out. Forgot to add 3 1/2 inches to the height to make up for the part that folds underneath to make the bottom so it's too short. Looks good though. I'll have to get some more material and try again. Glad I didn't start right in with a big high dollar piece of material for a tarp or something ! Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it.

If it feels rubbery, then it is definitely coated. If it's just shiny, then it is calendared. DWR is a fiber sealant that makes the fibers repel water... mostly... it's side-agnostic.

Oh, put the coating on the inside... the coating will degrade faster than the nylon will in the sun.
