I am contemplating making a double layer hammock for summer (so I can try out a thin pad between the layers).
Will two layers of 1.1 ripstop nylon hold 250 lbs?

I don't know about 250, but Genuine Draft's 1.1 BlackBird holds my 225-230lb butt pretty well. Pretty comfortable, but there is a little bit of stretch. My 1.7 double layer BB is incredibly comfortable and has had a 300 pounder in it.
Trust nobody!
Nope! The 300 pounder wasn't Genuine Draft or me, it's one of my neighbors that I'm slowly turning to the Dark Side. I'm the 225-230 one.
Are you kidding me? Genuine Draft doesn't even tell me her weight! No way to mess that one up.
Trust nobody!
You guys are gonna get me in trouble for things I haven't even done. Reminds me of getting grounded in High School by my dad for all the things he never caught me doing. Sooooo not fair.
Trust nobody!

For safety's sake you could use 1.7 on the bottom layer and 1.1 on top.
Sorry eay! We seem to have gotton off the trail so to speak..
Why would you not use a 1.7-1.9/1.1 dbl if you have doughts about the 1.1 dbl? Seems this would hold up well, sag less, & give peace of mind so you wouldn't lose sleep waiting for it to fail. Weight wouldnt be too much more this way.
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.
