A big "Howdy y'all" from North Texas!

Well, now I have gone and done it… Been lurking here for the last week or two. Watched some Shug vidz which I must say are not just packed full of great information but are high-larious too!! All that has lead to the purchase of a sewing machine, a bunch of nylon fabric and super late nights trying to teach myself to sew and figure out how to make my own gear. Mind you, I had not ever considered even attempting to use a sewing machine before but that is all over. I jumped right in without looking back and now I have my very own DIY hammock, tarp and a couple stuff sacks!!! The next order of business is to get out and see how it works.

So far this has been a fantastic resource and looks like I have a whole new addiction ( I mean "hobby") to get into… Thanks to all you members out there that make this place so inviting and easy to learn. Hope to see ya on the trail some time!

Welcome from San Antonio, Texas. Nice looking setup you have there. Great job on the DIY stuff. I just started dabbling in making gear myself.

THAT is AWESOME!!!! Must remember that one. I wonder if I can add "turbo" to it or something to sup it up in the garage… Maybe I'll paint flames or skulls on it so it goes with the motorcylces sitting out there.

Thanks for the welcomes! Definitely want to get in on a group hang soon. I would hit the Ozark hang on the 9th but taking my Scouts camping that weekend already. Hopefully another one pops up soon.

My son got excited when he saw what I made. He took one swing in it and jumped out asking if he could have one and then stated he not only wants his own but wants to help make it as well!!! If all goes well he and I will be hangin' for the first time at Erwin Park. Cross your fingers for us!!!
