If I had an option today i would buy the xlc. But my bb suits me fine enough. Aint nothing wrong with it at all. I am 6foot 265lbs. I sleep with my daughter in the hammock with me since she was maybe a year. Its starting to get cramped going to have to push her out of the nest soon. She is about a 40 pounder max. Waiting can be fun. Its like waiting for christmas. Sure either one you will enjoy.

I'm 6" and I love the extra length on my new bias xl camper. I went from a eno dn and the added foot or two makes all the difference in the world. I think that xlc is calling your name.
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.

For what it's worth, I'm your size and I just ordered an XLC to replace my standard BB. The standard one is definitely comfortable, but I do feel like I have to position myself exactly right in it. There really isn't any room to adjust or move around. I'm hoping the XLC gives me a little more freedom to choose different positions.

I think these 11 foot hammocks are way more comfortable than the 10 footers. I was about to give up on my Warbonnets because at 6'3" I just cant get comfortable in my Traveler and my BB is a standard lay and I really need a right side lay. However, the craftsmanship and simplicity of of his hammocks are right up there with the best. I can have mine hung in a minute or two while my buddies are fiddling with ropes and knots. Now he has the XLC models so that gets my vote even though I have not tried one...

10' blackbird or 11' XLC for first hammock?

would a 1.1 double layer xlc (net only) be a good one to start with or should i go with the standard 10'? i dont know if i have the patience to wait for a 10' xlc...

side note: i do plan on getting the 3-season yeti UQ with it. still debating between superfly / mamajamba.

also, i read the double 1.1 is "silkier" than the single 1.7 material. Considering i'm no fan of silk bed sheets, should i rule out the 1.1 material or is it just smoother than 1.7 but not quite real silk smooth ?

    thanks for any advice!
You need to ask yourself how you are going to use your hammock. Are you backpacking or car camping, or just setting up in your backyard. Keep in mind the XLC is nearly double the weight of the BB. As nice as the XLC is,I am not willing to carry it backpacking. If you are a backpacker, you will want to carefully decide how much weight you're willing to carry. If you are car camping then weight really doesn't matter.

Are you thinking RidgeRunner vs WBBB here? The WBRR will be heavier if you include the poles.
The XLC DL 1.1 with net (not cover) is 30.5 oz per the WB site.
The WBBB DL 1.1 with net is 28 oz.

Well, I was including the cover. As much as I love the BB (and I still use it), I've decided my total weight is too much. Therefore I've gone to a Darien UL at only 11 ounce without suspension.
It's easy to say an ounce or two doesn't matter, but I've found that thinking leads to a heavy pack.

    Thanks for clarifying Deacon.

I'm right there with you on the ounces piece. For me, hammocking has increased my overall weight, but I accept the trade off for better sleep.
