    Newb needs advice

I have a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe that I will be using this summer for a few 2 night outings. My concern is keeping warm at night. I have a 40F down bag that I will be using and I don't anticipate sleeping below 50F. Will I require any additional insulation for these temps to be comfortable. I'm a cool sleeper so I don't require nor want to sleep hot. If you think I will require additional insulation, what is the best way to do so.

    Thanks.

You can get by with a camping pad in the hammock. An SPE or
Eno Hotspot really help with shoulder warmth and over-all pad wrangling.

Some find their backd can get cool even in the 60's and 70's. I think you will need some bottom insulation. As Shug mentioned a pad will work.

Would this be the time to use a 3/4 UQ or will it be to warm for summer?

Get a closed cell foam (CCF) pad. I'll just second the statement that people get cold in the 70's, and that some insulation is required.

Hummm,..I've done a few practice hangs in my garage and I'm not keen on the pads due to the breathability. How much would I be looking at to get into a 3/4 UQ or full size if the price is right. It only needs to be capable of 40F-ish and it must fit a Hennessy Explorer.

A full length 40*F Underground Quilts Zeppelin UQ is $210.00 and a 3/4 length is $190.00. Paul make quality gear as do the other HF vendors. These prices are similar to other vendors if not a tad less.

Does anybody have any experience with the Jarbridge 3/4 UQ from Kickass Quilts ? $95 bucks for a synthetic seems quite cheap compared to the $175 and up down UQs.

Yes, I have one and have used it in the 40s so far and have been happy with it.

Do you think the cut and suspension would be good for a Hennessy Explorer ? What size does it pack down to ?
