Will this stop the SlapStrap Stretch? (with pics)

So, Ive heard tons about how the slap straps stretch, I got my SlapStraps Pro and, I got wondering if I can work with these. I took it all back behind my apartment and set it up. The difference this time was I looped it through like normal, wrapped the strap the opposite direction, essentially locking it in place, wrapped a few more times around the tree and back through the loop, and hooked it to my hammock. Now in my mind that would stay put, there's not any room for the strap to stretch, and actually should be more secure. Also, there's over 9ft of strap so you can adjust as needed. Am I off base on this?

Its the material itself that stretches so not sure what you did will solve it..
I have not heard much on them for a while... I wonder if they changed the material yet?

They have since come out with Atlas straps that don't stretch.

MOB, if that doesn't solve your problem or you don't want to have to deal with doing that every time you hang, you can pm me your address and I'll send you some polyester webbing that you can make straps out of and that will solve your problem for good.

I understand that but wrapped around the tree like that its not gonna stretch all the way to the ground its not rubber or elastic...

the stretch will me minimal, if you can keep the length of the straps to a minimum between the hammock and the tree. my defense of such a statement? - I'm a fulltime hanger and use a loop of 9/16" climb spec webbing ~10" between the hooks on my stand and the hammock and have not had any problems with them stretching out. just remember that with nylon webbing the farther it is from the end of the hammock to the connection point of your tree the more stretch you'll see in the webbing.
i would also think that if you're always setting up in the same place go with it if it works for you, if not swap out to poly webbing.

Trying to make an established inferior suspension system work is an exercise in frustration, but if you are willing to undertake the endeavor, more power to you!

Certainly the shorter the strap the less stretch you will experience. If you start off planning for the stretch, then it shouldn't be too bad. Despite the stretch they do not have a lot of adjustability though. Give it a shot and tell us your results.
